Hi,

At long last we are up and running… so long paper blogs!

Last week was, as usual a busy week. Play rehearsals are well and truly underway and we’ve even been practising on the stage in the junior hall. It’s looking and sounding great, however we really need to work on the end section, so if your child has lines towards the end of the play, we would be grateful if you could practise with them and help them out with cues. You should have received a letter by now too letting you know if your child needs to bring a costume in for the performance. You can start to send them in now , please make sure they are clearly labelled.

Maths was great last week. Revisiting place value, the children were really confident in this area and it was great to see the progress made. We are looking at place value in 2 and 3 digit numbers through the use of coins and addition and subtraction of multiples of 10.

Unfortunately the children didn’t get chance to visit  the planetarium as planned on Friday due to the provider being ill. However, they will get chance to visit on Wednesday this week instead (watch out for pictures on twitter).

We are really looking forward to welcoming our parents/carers into school Thursday afternoon this week to help us make our Christmas crafts. Please come and join us if you can, there will be tea/coffee and mince pies!

In topic this week we are looking  at  using simple compass directions (North, South, East and West) and locational and directional language to describe routes on a map. We will continue to investigate the significance of Christopher Columbus and compare and contrast his life with that of Neil Armstrong.

Our learning Hero last week was Zoe. She was chosen for her resilience in reading and writing. Well done Zoe!

I’ve added a new game to ‘Active learn’ to help them practise this week’s place value work: Sea-Shack smash.

I’ve also added some phonics games to help pupils: ‘-j,-dge,-ge’ and ‘-il,- al, -el, -le’. I’ve also added a conjunctions game.

I will update this blog weekly so check us out for latest news and resources.
